The Christmas Spirit

Ever since the nativity scene, Ella has really been getting into the Christmas spirit.

Today, she told me she wanted to have a Christmas tree. So I got together a few things and let her have at it!

I mean, how could I say no to that face!

Ella: What's this?
Me: It's an ornament.

Ella: So it doesn't go on the tree?
Me: No, you sit it somewhere you can see it.
Ella: Oh, I know!

Ella: Here!

Ella: See?
Me: Excellent! ^_^

Ella: Now can I open the box?
Me: Of course.

Ella: * lifts *

Ella: Oohhh....

Ella: ...pretty.
Me: That gets wrapped around the tree.
Ella: Ok.

Ella: So, like this?
Me: Yep, that looks great!

Ella: Right, what's next!

Ella: These are pretty too!
Me: Yes they are.

Ella: Do I hang these on the tree too?
Me: Yep.

Ella: There.
Me: Wonderful El!

Ella: There's one more decoration!

Ella: Wow! It's really really pretty and sparkly!
Me: It's the star, it goes on top of the tree.

Ella: There, perfect!

Ella: Tadah!
Me: Well done Ella! ^_^

Me: But there's still one more thing in the box.
Ella: Oh, another decoration?
Me: Well, actually a kind of ornament.

Ella: Yay!

Ella: Hey, I think I know what this is!

Ella: A stocking! I've heard about these! Rosie, can you hang it up for me?
Me: Sure.

***********

Me: There you go.
Ella: Haaaaah.

Ella: Thank you Rosie! You're the best!
Me: * smiles * It's my pleasure Ella.

* cuddles *
Ella: Thank you for helping me experience Christmas!
Me: Your welcome. ^_^

The Nativity

Ella's arm has been feeling better lately, and she no longer needs to support it with a sling.
This has lead to her being quite content as of late.
Today, she was surprised to see a large box on my bed.

Ella: Huh? Rosie, where'd this box come from?
Me: I got it down from the attic. It has some special Christmas decorations in it.

Ella: Chris-mas? Is that a person?
Me: No, it's a holiday, kind of like a world wide festival. Don't Wood Elves celebrate Christmas?

Ella: Oh wait! I think I've heard of it! The elders in my village used to tell us stories about how humans celebrate it once a year and open gifts!
Me: Yes, that's right.
Ella: Can I help with these decorations?
Me: If you like.

Ella: * climbs *

Ella: Na-tiv-i-ty scene?
Me: Yes, it's a set of figures that represent a part of Christmas.

Ella: Can you open it?
Me: Alright. Hope down and I'll take the lid off.

Me: * opens box *

Ella: Oooh, bubbles! * giggles * But where are the figures? * leans forward *

Ella: Eeeep!
Me: El!

Ella: * giggles * Hehe, whoopsie!

Ella: I think I can see something.

Ella: Look! I found them!

Me: Right then. Should we start unpacking them?
Ella: Yes!

Ella: Here's a sheep!

Ella: Ooof, this one's heavy.

Ella: * grunts *

Ella: Here, a shepherd!

Ella: And some wise guys!

**********

Ella: Whew! All done!
Me: Good job El-Bell! ^_^

**********

Ella: What next?
Me: Now we set them up.
Ella: Right then!

Ella: Ugh, not this guy again!

Ella: Now you just sit there mister shepherd.

Ella: Grrrr, he won't stand up!

Ella: There you go sheeps!

Ella: Now you, er, who is this guy? A shepherd?
Me: That's Joseph.

Ella: And this lady with the cute baby?
Me: That's Mary and Jesus.

Ella: All done! How does it look?

Me: It looks great! Well done Ella!
Ella: * grins *

Sea Shells

I was away with my family and friends a couple of weeks ago, and I bought Ella back some souvenirs. I only gave them to her today though, and they seemed to cheer her up considerably in her current state. :)

Ella: Thanks Rosie!!
Me: You're welcome. ^_^

Ella: So pretty.

Me: Can you hear the ocean?
Ella: Yes! Yes I can!

Ella: Look! I'm a shellfish!
Me: I can see that. XD

Ella: Oh, I have an idea!

Me: Ella?
Ella: Just a moment. Now where is it?

Ella: Eureka!
Me: Er, Ella, what are you doing?
Ella: Wait and see!

Ella: See! I'm a mermaid!
Me: * stifles laugh * Oh, um, I see.

Ella: It's clever right?
Me: Yes Ella, very clever. ;)

Playing with shells can be exhausting work.

Me: Ella, do you want to say goodbye to everyone?

Ella: Oh, yes! Bye everybody! And thank you for all your
warm wishes! It makes me feel so much better! ^_^
